Salvia acts on opioid receptors in the brain. Standard opiates like heroin antagonise mu-opiod receptors whereas salvia antagonises kappa-opioid receptors which are responsible for the hallucinatons (also the 'roller coaster' feeling). Just type salvia effects into google and you get loads of info to choose from
That's so interesting that Salvinorin acts as a opioid. There is a really intense body high that comes with it. It sounds strange but to me it seems as though that there is such a primordial sensation of incapacitation that it renders a mental hallucination? Idk if that makes sense. It always feels as though your being "pushed" I'm gonna look into and see if this distorts anything physically with the fluid in your ears or their receptors? Hmm I have weird ideas lolo
Apparently it is to do with the receptors in the brain. There are two types of opioid receptor, mu and kappa. Mu is triggered with all opiate based drugs, and they do not antagonise the kappa very much. mu is also responsible for the addiction to opiates. Antagonising the kappa makes you disoriented and queezy, but causes hallucinations....it is all in the brain....but....the brain is a powerful tool and you can vomit....and, as it is all in the brain, will power and/or training can negate this
That's cool! That's good it doesn't create dependence. I've never tried opiates that I'm aware of but if I had to imagine what they felt like I would guess Salvia is somewhat similar. Some people I've known have gotten queezy but I thought it was just from the waxes on the foliage.
